I just returned from Texas A&M where I par­tic­i­pat­ed in the Third Annu­al Cryp­to-Jew­ish Con­fer­ence, April 8–9. There is much inter­est today in the top­ic, from peo­ple of Lati­no back­ground who are explor­ing the pos­si­bil­i­ty that their ances­tors were con­vert­ed Sephardic Jews, and from those who are amazed and cap­ti­vat­ed by the con­cept of 500+ years of the sur­vival of a faith despite per­se­cu­tion and prohibition.
